To tone or not to tone? Definitely use toner!

The term “toner” is often loosely used. You might have shied away from toner in the past because you’ve heard of it drying out skin in some cases and moisturizing it in others. The confusion can be attributed to the fact that the toner label has been applied to several different kinds of products. Depending on what product you’re actually using, a toner can minimize pores, unplug pores, lighten spots, brighten skin and the list goes on. The ingredients within the product and the formulation of said product, determine the results of the toner. I recommend gauze pads for application. A cotton ball absorbs too much of the product; I see clients using up a 60 day supply of toner in 30 days because of this. At the same time, the gauze pad also loosens and removes dead skin – that’s why even after cleansing, you will find that your gauze pad might come away from your face looking “dirty”. This is dead skin that needs to be removed. That’s a good thing! So pick your toner carefully depending on your skincare goals and don’t skip it!
