Magnetic Lashes 2.0

Approximately two years ago, a new take on false lashes emerged on the scene: magnetic lashes. The marketing for the first-to-create was amazing…it looked so easy! Simple as 1-2-3! Anyone can apply them! So of course, taking one for the team as I do, I bought quite a few pairs. Well, duh. THEY. WERE. IMPOSSIBLE. There was a top and a bottom lash strip, each with magnets, and you were supposed to sandwich your own lashes in between these two magnetic strips. Well, forget it. It literally was so difficult that not even the best of us could have done it on a regular basis, let alone when you were getting ready for a big event and had already done your eye makeup and didn’t want to screw it up. I even had a client who was sucked in the by the same marketing, show up and ask me for a lesson on how to apply. By the end of the lesson, she just simply gave me the ones she bought and asked me to throw them away for her, she was so mad.

WELL I HAVE SOME GREAT NEWS

Magnetic Lashes 2.0 are here. This time around, the (multiple) inventors have made an eyeliner with magnetic properties, and you apply the liner on to the eyes as you would any liner. Then you simply attach (one!) strip lash to the top of each eye. Voilá, you have easily applied your false lashes and they last all day. AMAZING. They feel like regular false lashes, which is to say, once you get used to them, you feel them a little bit. They are very easy to remove - just lift them off. Then remove the eye liner with eye makeup remover. The lashes last for at least 10 or more times, because they don’t get covered with glue. If you keep them safe in their box and make sure the magnets don’t get liner on them, you are good to go.

CHOICES

There are lots of choices of both vendors and lashes by each vendor. I tried Moxielash and bought their “Sassy Lash” and black gel liner. They offer many styles of lashes. I had to cut mine down as they were just a bit too much for me. I am going to try “Classy Lash” next time. As for the liner, they sell a gel which is more of a matt look and a liquid liner which is shinier. I applied the gel with my own eyeliner brush but the company also sells their own.

I am very enthusiastic about this product breakthrough. Of course, I won’t be going to a lot of galas or dressy affairs this year, but I do like to look great on video calls like Zoom. So when I am in the mood, I’ll get my lashes going! Here’s a screenshot of me with the lashes on a Zoom call.
