How To Apply Blush

Women are using blush brushes that are way too large, and then wondering, “Gee, why do I look like a clown?” or “How come I can’t get a natural look?” Here’s the scoop:

The modern way to wear blush is up high on the cheekbones, not low on the apple.
Rule of thumb: the blushed area should be no wider than two of your fingers max, and not go past your temple on the upper part nor past your pupil on the lower part.
Use a small brush to create the blushed area, using strokes in the shape of a “C” or half-moon.
Do not smile when you are applying your blush. First of all, we are not applying the blush to the apples of the cheeks. Second of all, if you apply when smiling, then the blushed area will naturally fall much lower down when you are not smiling and won’t be in the correct place.
Always dab your brush with the blush on it on a tissue first before you apply to your cheek. A little bit will come off on the tissue and the right amount will be on your brush for you to apply and blend. If you go straight for the cheek without dabbing a bit off first, you will get a blob right where your first touch the brush to the cheek and it will be very difficult to blend.
