Exfoliation is Key

Why Exfoliation is key…Recently, I came across the most…uh…interesting factoid: “the epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, sheds a million dead cells every forty minutes… Unlike a snake that completely sheds its skin every year, humans do it on a continuous basis… These dead skin cells constitute more than 90% of house dust.”

Excerpt From: Dr. Katie Rodan, Dr. Kathy Fields and Lori Bush. “Write Your Skin a Prescription for Change.”

Ok, but that said, the pace of naturally sloughing off skin does slow as we age. By the time you’re forty, it could take 50 days or more for the skin to rejuvenate. When dead cells don’t slough off as rapidly, the top layers of your skin get thicker, appearing almost stale, and the dead cells pack into your pores, making them look larger, thus giving you a sallow and dull appearance. This is why exfoliation is important. It assists the natural shedding process and reveals the newer, fresher skin cells below.

So of course, what we all really need is a vacuum for our skin! And guess what? There is one! It’s an at home “macro-exfoliator” that removes 5 million dead cells on your face, neck and decolletage in 5 mins. You use it once a week. I use it every Sunday on my face. (I also use it on my back more frequently as this really helps clear up an acne on my back.)

I love this tool - please contact me to see it in action and to get yours! The screenshot below shows the tool recently raved about in People Style Watch - however, the company, Rodan and Fields, does not pay for any advertising or editorial so it’s a real recommendation, not one driven by “ad dollars”.

I’m also including an image of human skin… ;)
