Dry Shampoo - How To Best Use It

Here are the top two mistakes I see clients make when using dry shampoo:

  1. Spraying too close to the head (assuming you are using a spray; you can also use a powder). You should not see a big white stripe when you are spraying. Assuming you are using a normal sized can, stay about the can’s height away from your head when you spray. (Good rule of thumb for hairspray too.)

  2. Not waiting long enough before rubbing it in. Some users say you should wait at least 10 minutes before massaging the spray or powder into the roots of your hair. At least wait several minutes. The product works by absorbing natural oil around the hairline and roots at your scalp. You have to give it time to absorb the oil before massaging it in.

Don’t expect shine from this product. It’s really a texturizer. It’s very matte and there is no shine. If you want shiny hair, you’re looking at a blow out, possibly followed by a polishing, followed by shine spray.
